Begin with an introduction to the different varieties of Pounamu, where you'll learn what makes each type unique, how they got their names, and view genuine examples up close. Our experienced tutors will explain the significance of Pounamu and help you choose the piece that best suits you from a range of colours and styles.

After a full demonstration and safety briefing, you'll be guided through the shaping and polishing process at your own pace. No previous experience is required, and our team will be there to assist every step of the way.

Carve Your Own Pounamu Pendant (Full Experience) - $199 NZD

This immersive workshop lasts up to 2 hours, and you’ll walk out wearing the piece you created with your own hands. All Pounamu, tools, polishing equipment, and cord are included. Perfect for families, couples, groups, and anyone wanting a truly personal keepsake.

For children ages 12-16, two adults are free of charge.

1. Start by choosing a rough pre-cut piece of genuine West Coast greenstone.
2. Sketch your idea and choose from a traditional Maori design or a free-form design.
3. Use our bench grinders and tools (with support at every step) to shape your pendant exactly how you want it.
4. Hand-polish the stone to the level of finish you prefer—from natural satin to a deep glassy shine.
5. The tutor will drill the hole to mitigate risk.
6. Tie your braided cord and leave with a one-of-a-kind pendant you made yourself.

1. Choose from a beautiful range of pre-shaped or pre-polished Pounamu pendants.
2. Depending on your schedule, choose a pre-polished pendant and watch our tutor drill a hole, or select a pre-shaped pendant and proceed directly to hand polishing.
3. Finish by attaching your braided cord, and you'll be walking out wearing your Pounamu within minutes.
